Frequently Asked Questions

Which option should I choose?

If you are not sure whether therapy is the right fit, or you want to learn more about how I work before committing, start with the free 15-minute consultation. If you already know you want to begin and are ready to schedule your first full session, go ahead and book the intake.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes. I offer telehealth sessions for clients in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New Mexico, and Rhode Island. Most clients meet via secure video. In-person sessions are available in Pittsburgh.

Where are you located for in-person sessions?

My office is located in Pittsburgh’s East End, easily accessible from Shadyside, Squirrel Hill, Point Breeze, Oakland, and surrounding neighborhoods.

What if I need to reschedule?

You can reschedule through the confirmation email you receive after booking. I ask for at least 24 hours notice when possible.

Do you take insurance?

I am a private-pay practice. I do not bill insurance directly, but I can provide a superbill (detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. You can learn more on the Why Private Pay page.

Can couples schedule an intake directly?

Yes. If both partners are ready to begin, you can book the intake session directly. If one or both of you want to ask questions first, start with the free consultation.

What do you specialize in, and how are you different from other therapists?

I am, first and foremost, a psychodynamic therapist — attuned to the deep patterns within one’s mind and relationships that other approaches tend to overlook. This orientation cuts across everything I do, including the areas I specialize in: couples counseling, sex therapy, problematic sexual behavior, and men’s psychology. I have formal training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples, and sex therapy, and I am a Certified Sex Therapist through AASECT. Whatever the issue someone comes in with, I bring an analytic rigor that creates structure within the therapy and lasting change beyond it.

I also work experientially — meaning I’m less interested in hearing about your life from a distance and more interested in what’s happening inside you, and between us, right now in the room. My training in Emotionally Focused Therapy gave me a framework for this kind of live, in-the-moment work, and it now shapes how I approach everything — individual therapy, sex therapy, couples work.

Not Ready to Schedule Yet?

That’s completely fine. Deciding to start therapy is a process, not a moment. If you’d like to stay connected and receive occasional insights on relationships, mental health, and the work I do, you’re welcome to join the newsletter. No pressure, no spam — just thoughtful content when it’s ready.
